How To Convert DVD To a DivX AVI
Use XMPEG (google it, site appears to be down) to convert to an uncompressed AVI:
- start XMPEG, the wizard will show, select Next
- select Open DVD root, then Next
- select the correct audio and subtitle options, then Next
- select DivX, then Next
- leave all options to the default, Next
- select AVI Writer, Next
- uncheck Start the conversion Now, Finished
- select the start and end frame you want to convert (XMPEG isn't too precise, the correct selection has to be done with VirtualDub)
- right click the video image and select Set Plug-in Options
- set Video compression to No Compression, OK
- right click, Start Conversion
There's now a file called Output Video File.avi in the root of C:
Use VirtualDub to tune the selection, select the correct encoders for audio and video and save to a new AVI file
